Foundation Course in Science

This Foundation course in Science has been jointly developed by Killester College and the Faculty of Science in Dublin institute of Technology (DIT). The purpose of the course is to prepare students for entry to first year of a degree course in science, in a Higher Education Institution.  The course is designed in particular for students who did not have the an opportunity to study science previously and as such assumes no prior knowledge of science.

Certification

FETAC (Further Education & Training Awards Council) Level 5 Certificate in Applied Science - Laboratory Techniques (CASLT).

 

Career Opportunities

Employment opportunities include working in pharmaceutical research organisations as clinical researchers or as laboratory assistants. They may also work in science-related industries such as clinical trial monitoring or medical research organisations.

 

Further Studies

Students may also progress to participating Higher Education Institutions (HEI's) through the FETAC Higher Education Links Scheme.
